The Rios Legacy Hospice is the third purpose built paediatric hospice in Australia. Actus Associates were engaged to provide an initial concept as part of feasibility study to be used as part of a capital fund raising campaign. At the end of the successful campaign, Actus was further engaged to move the design through Design Development to Construction documentation. As lead consultant Actus Associates have been leading the design for the 7-place facility that will house a high care wing for 7 children, hydrotherapy pool, sensory rooms, theatre room, end-of-life bereavement room, support rooms for specialised consultants and a commercial kitchen and dining area. The facility will also have 4 family rooms as a separate wing. The facility is designed with sustainability and biophilic philosophies as the driving principles with the view to enhance the model of care.
